Sexual assaults
If you or a loved one are the victim of a sexual assault, our approach is first and foremost always to make sure you are supported and seeking the treatment you need to help you with your recovery. We understand the specific kind of care, empathy, and compassion needed to help victims feel seen, heard, and understood. Regardless of whether the criminal justice system is able to punish the offender, a sexual assault victim can file a civil lawsuit against them and recover damages for their trauma.
In addition to the offender who committed the assault and/or abuse, some civil cases permit you to pursue a claim against the offender’s employer or other supervisory organization, which allows for the possibility of a greater financial recovery. Where the assault occurred, and who may or may not have been responsible for providing a safe environment for innocent victims are all relevant and important factors in determining whether there is another entity responsible for what has happened to you or a loved one.
Cases for injuries caused by a sexual assault may involve:
- Rideshare companies (Uber, Lyft, etc.)
- Inadequate security at commercial properties, including but not limited to:
- Restaurants, bars, nightclubs
- Apartment buildings
- Parking garages and parking lots
- Schools and universities
- Hospitals
- Gas stations
If you or a loved one were the victim of sexual assault, we will approach you with the sensitivity you deserve and help you understand your legal options.
